The Procurement Agent now shows you the ripple effect before you commit

Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management’s 10.0.48 release reached general availability for self-update customers in June, with the auto-update rollout following in July for anyone who has not updated yet.

Buried in a long list of planning and warehouse improvements is one feature worth a second look if you have ever changed a purchase order and then spent the rest of the day tracing what it broke.

What the Procurement Agent actually shows you

Procurement Agent impact analysis, now in production-ready preview, shows you the downstream effect of a purchase order change before you commit it, whether that is a quantity change, a date change or a cancellation.

It surfaces which sales orders, production orders or transfers depend on that PO and what breaks if you go ahead, instead of you finding out after the fact that a delayed shipment quietly pushed out three customer orders.

Smaller wins in the same release

  • Cluster picking now captures serial and batch numbers precisely rather than approximately.
  • Warehouse work classification can be automated with Power FX rules rather than hardcoded logic.
  • Soft issue margins in Planning Optimization give planners more flexibility on near-miss allocations.

What to do next

None of this needs a project to switch on. If you are on Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management and have not been into feature management since June, the Procurement Agent impact analysis and the other production-ready previews in 10.0.48 are worth a look before the July auto-update reaches you anyway.
