A chip built only for AI

Each Copilot+ Surface carries an NPU, a Neural Processing Unit. It is a separate chip that runs AI on its own, away from the processor and graphics, far faster and on a fraction of the battery.

TOPS is how much AI it runs

TOPS counts trillions of AI operations a second. A Copilot+ PC needs at least 40. The new 12th Edition Pro and 8th Edition Laptop run 80, close to double the last generation.

That hardware runs AI features on the device itself, so they are fast and work without an internet connection. Choose the Surface Pro if your team values a tablet that detaches from its keyboard, inks with a pen and props on a kickstand.
